PEARL AWARDS FINALISTS UNVEILED
Record Number of International Entries and Winners

NEW YORK, NY(October 19, 2012) – Finalists for the 2012 Pearl Awards were announced today, selected from 628 entries from 15 countries, underscoring custom media’s growth in the publishing industry.
The Pearl Awards, presented by the Custom Content Council annually, recognize excellence in custom media in the areas of design, editorial, strategic initiatives in print and digital. This year’s program will be honor winners in 42 major subcategories with executives from a record of 62 companies.
“This year we saw an increase in digital submissions, which is no surprise in today’s digital marketplace,” said Lori Rosen, Executive Director of Custom Content Council. “However, what is new is the exciting and unique 80% increase in our competitive integrated web and print entries. What we see overall is content marketers continuing to press the boundaries in innovative and creative ways.”

The 628 entries were judged simultaneously in three different markets across the country: New York, Washington D.C. and San Francisco. Submissions included magazines, newsletters, websites, blogs, Apps and videos, published for clients from a wide range of industries: tourism, travel, technology, automotive, health, retail and many more.

Television Host and CJR Editor to Present 2012 Awards
NBC Meteorologist Raphael MirandaandColumbia Journalism Review Editor-in-Chief Cyndi Stivers will serve as this year’s presenters. Miranda is a meteorologist for New York Nonstop, a round-the-clock local information and lifestyle digital channel that reaches more than 5.7 million digital households in the nation’s largest television market. He was also a meteorologist from NBC Weather Plus. An acccomplised journalist and editor, Stivers has had a career in just about every platform; newspaper, magazine (including Entertainment Weekly, Conde Nast Traveler and Vanity Fair), TV and online.
The ninth annual Pearl Awards Gala will be held Monday, November 5th at Liberty Theater in New York City. The evening will conclude with the seventh annual John Caldwell Lifetime Achievement Award.
