Leverage Media Founder Michael Winkleman Feted with
Caldwell Lifetime Achievement Award

 

NEW YORK, NY (November 13, 2013) Over one hundred and thirty content marketing executives gathered at the Highline Ballroom in New York City last night for the tenth annual Pearl Awards ceremony. Custom content creators and agencies from 13 different countries representing brands such as Coca-Cola, Ford, Walmart, Whole Foods Market and GEICO submitted almost 600 entries this year.

Head Office, a top Communication Agency based in Belgium, took home the most gold awards with six wins. Rodale Grow topped the charts for most overall awards, taking home 15. They were followed by Pace (14), McMURRY/TMG (12), Head Office (11), Spafax and Bauer Media Group (9).

Propaganda, a Media Agency also based in Belgium, was honored with the evening’s only Perfect Score Award forActivity Report 2011-2012, reflecting excellence in the Best Overall Editorial category.

The top prize of the night, the Best in Custom Award, was presented to Rogers Media for Walmart Live Better. The Best in Custom Award is determined by compiling the top gold winners exemplifying the best in editorial, design and corporate strategy for another round of judging.

Michael Winkleman Presented with the 
John Caldwell Lifetime Achievement Award 

Michael Winkleman, co-founder of Leverage Media, was graced with the John Caldwell Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding work in the custom content industry, coupled with his contribution to creating the hallmark programs for the Custom Content Council, including the Pearl Awards.

After a successful editorial career at several media entities including Adweek, American Lawyer Media and Chief Executive, he founded Leverage Media in 2001, with clients such as Morrison & Foerster, Crowell & Moring, Dentons, Vantiv, American Gas Association, and HireVue.

Winkleman is also a longtime member of the Custom Content Council, serving as chairman from 2006-2010, during which time the Pearls became the gold standard mark of excellence in our industry. He also launched Content and served as editorial director for three years, fielded ground-breaking industry research with Roper and Readex and launched the Caldwell and Marketing Heroes Awards.

Winners of the Tenth Annual Pearl Awards

Gold, silver and bronze awards were presented by JD Roberto, host of The Better Show, and Abbey Klaassen, Editor of Advertising Age. This year marked a growing trend for Digital entries, seeing a significant increase of submissions to categories such as Best Overall Digital Strategy and Best Microsite. Over 30 judges assembled in New York, Washington D.C. and San Francisco to judge all 587 entries.

Winners are listed by category, custom media company, and title.
