CUSTOM CONTENT COUNCIL AWARDS 178 PEARLS AT ANNUAL CEREMONY

AMEX Custom Media Takes Top Prize for Renaissance Hotel PACE (19) TMG (18), Totem Brand Stories (13), Story Worldwide (11), Meredith (9) Lead Pack

TV Personalities Tom Hudson and Audra Lowe Presented

NEW YORK, NY (November 8, 2011) – One hundred and sixty guests feted the custom content industry’s highest honors this year at a festive celebration at Guastavino’s in New York City last evening.   Representing a wide range of companies and interests from Panera Bread to Verizon Wireless, a record 638 entries were submitted this year for the Custom Content Council’s annual awards program. 

Two of the largest independently owned custom content agencies, Pace Communications and TMG took home 19 and 18 awards respectively, followed by Totem Brand Stories, Story Worldwide and Meredith Xcelerated Marketing with 13, 11 and 9 awards. American Express Publishing, Custom Media won the overall Best in Custom award for R.24 which is presented to the publication with the overall highest points.  R.24 is a bi-annual magazine produced for Renaissance Hotel guests, showcasing original content about travel, arts, culture, restaurants, spa and sport facilities, style, and shopping.

 

Bonnie McElveen-Hunter Wins John Caldwell Lifetime Achievement Award

 

Bonnie McElveen-Hunter, founder and CEO, Pace Communications, was presented the John Caldwell Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing her incredible contributions to the custom content industry, which she founded over 30 years ago. Today Pace is the largest independently owned custom media company in the country, working with clients such as Wells Fargo, Verizon, Harrah’s and Four Seasons, among many others.  Pace is headquartered in Greensboro, NC.

 

Pearl awards sponsor Zinio created a special digital edition of the show program. HP MagCloud printed the event’s program.  Other sponsors were Brown Printing Company, Superior Media Solutions and the Howard Sloan-Koller Group. 

 

National Television Hosts Presented the 2011 Awards

 

Audra Lowe and Tom Hudson served as this year’s presenters.  Lowe has been the main anchor of the nationally syndicated program “The Better Show,” where she has been instrumental in growing the show’s market size from 12 to over 140 cities, with “Better” airing in 9 of country’s top 10 markets. Hudson is the co-anchor and managing editor of the Nightly Business Report on PBS—the nation’s most watched business show on television today.

Gold, silver and bronze awards were presented in the areas of design, editorial and strategic initiatives in print and digital custom media, focusing on the best new, ongoing, and improved publications.  For the strategy category, over 30 judges rated each entry on how well the publications complement the sponsoring organization’s integrated marketing campaigns, and how well they prove a return on investment.
