Jon Anthony, General Manager and Program Director, Kenny Chesney's No Shoes Radio
Jon Anthony is General Manager and Program Director of "No Shoes Radio," Kenny Chesney's internet radio station. He founded the station with Chesney in 2008, after five years at SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio, most recently as Vice-President of Country Programming.
A 23-year radio veteran and native of Lebanon, Kentucky, Anthony began his radio career at the age of 15 at his hometown station, WLBN/WLSK. While attending Eastern Kentucky University, he held both Morning Drive and Evening On-Air positions at WLAP/WMXL in Lexington, KY. In 1995, Anthony joined Radio One Network in Colorado as Evening On-Air Personality at the satellite radio provider, his first nationally-syndicated program. He then moved to Washington, DC in 1996 to join WMZQ, where he became known as one of country radio's top young programmers. In 2004, Anthony joined XM Satellite Radio, ascending to the role of VP/Country Programming following the company's 2008 merger with SIRIUS. There, he managed all of the provider's country music programming and Nashville operations, and in 2006, became the first satellite-radio DJ to be nominated for the Academy of Country Music's "National On-Air Personality of the Year" Award.
Partnering with country superstar Kenny Chesney, in August 2009, the two launched "No Shoes Radio," a ground-breaking venture that builds upon Chesney's unique brand and broadcasts his catalog of music, his favorite songs of all genres, and exclusive, original interview and musical content captured behind the scenes. "No Shoes Radio" has quickly become one of the internet's most popular radio stations and is now also delivered via Chesney's new iPhone application, along with Apple's iTunes Radio.
Anthony lives in Franklin, TN with his wife, Jaimie, and their two sons, Zack and Avery.
