Alex has been working in new media and entertainment for over 10 years, as an attorney, producer and more recently as a strategist and business developer for the National Hockey League. Alex joined the NHL's media legal department 3 years ago, where he worked on a wide range of media and technology projects, including TV, video, radio, Internet and new media distribution. As of last year, Alex’s role has focused on digital business development, social media and overall cross-platform strategies.
Alex has helped develop and manage the NHL’s new media strategies, from live game streaming and mobile content distribution, to the redesign of the League's websites and mobile sites, and the development of a broad cross-platform content syndication business with a network of key new media partners such as YouTube, Hulu, Amazon.com, iTunes, Sony PlayStation, Yahoo, Sports Illustrated, MySpace, Metacafe and Yardbarker. Alex’s approach to syndication combines custom programming, advertising opportunities and social media, as a way of maximizing brand exposure, audience growth and scale.
Alex also sits on the boards of Shetler Studios (a theater and multi-media company in NYC) and Community~Word Project (an NY non-profit that trains teacher-artists and runs in-school arts residencies in under-served communities).
