John Brown enters the North American Market with Hannaford's fresh magazine
Award-winning international content marketing firm John Brown Media has successfully launched a complete revamp of fresh magazine in North America for Northeast supermarket chain Hannaford – a company renowned for its Guiding Stars® system, which helps customers understand the nutritional value of supermarket products.
The issue of the new print magazine hit stores in late 2015 and was accompanied by an extensive multi-platform strategy, including an online interactive magazine as well as rich, engaging content for Hannaford’s social media channels. A mobile app is in the works.
The multi-platform approach ensures a consistent brand message, helping to publicise Hannaford, its core local and sustainable values, and the carefully selected products available in-store.
Hannaford's fresh magazine is John Brown Media's first foray into North American markets. Their award-winning work on UK grocery store Waitrose's publications helped win the contract.
"We were looking to take fresh magazine to the next level in content, design and omni-channel delivery,” said Bruce Daman, Director of Brand Communication at Hannaford Supermarkets. "The John Brown team has been a great partner in bringing our vision to life.”
John Brown Media has hired some of the most exciting talent in North America to open their maiden stateside office. The Boston office, which is situated above Boston’s historic South Station, currently has a team of eight.
“It’s rare to have the chance to launch a new publication in the Northeast area, let alone a culinary-minded publication – so the opportunity to extend John Brown’s pedigreed food media experience into this region was an incredibly exciting one,” fresh Editor Leah Mennies said. “We look forward to continuing to work with the team at Hannaford on an exciting recipe-driven publication with a Northeast sense of place."
The Hannaford win was quickly followed by a new contract with Sappi North America, producing their internal @Sappi magazine.
